Google in Hantavirus-this is an bit from one article

Hantavirus has probably caused people to get sick for years in the United States, but it was not recognized until recently.

A 1993 outbreak of fatal respiratory illness on an Indian reservation in the Four Corners area led epidemiologists to the discovery of hantavirus as the cause. (The Four Corners area is at the border of Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona.) Since that discovery, hantavirus disease has been reported in every western state, and in many eastern states.

Hantavirus is carried by rodents, particularly deer mice, and is present in their urine and feces. The virus does not cause disease in the carrier animal. Humans are thought to become infected when they are exposed to contaminated dust from the nests or droppings of mice.

The disease is not, however, passed between humans. Contaminated dust is often encountered when cleaning long-vacated dwellings, sheds, or other enclosed areas.

The story I read said that the indians were getting this disease from just sweeping up mice feces and it would get in the air and they would breath it. I live in south Texas and we had a case here last year. It is serious and can kill you. Be very careful and take precautions like wearing a mask.

Yes, hantivirus is caused by ingesting the virus from mouse droppings, either in the air or on the skin. This disease is deadly. You must wear a breathing mask and use rubber gloves. All the droppings must be wiped off the dirty areas with a wet cloth soaked in bleach, do not use a vacuum cleaner. All the mouse urine must be disinfected with bleach and then the cleaning cloths carefully disposed of. Do not breathe the air unless through a mask.

Actually the bacteria found there is common around.

It would be considered hazardous depending on the extent of the bacteria. Things to consider is current air temp/internal/external.

Mice leave feces almost on all counters and urine, but if you are a clean person and notice things right away you can pull out your Bleach and wipe it killing virtually all bacteria on the surface.

As far making you sick it's possible if you come in contact with it on your hand not necessarily the air breathed in, but contact by your hand and then placing your fingers in your mouth or touching a vital organ when you have not washed your hands can make you sick.\\The possibilities are very high.

yes, in fact there is a deadly disease that was linked to mouse feces, cant remember what it was though.

If you are working in a burned house you should be wearing some sort of breathing protection anyway.

If the mice in question carried Hanta virus it can kill you. It gets into your system through your lungs. Check with your doctor.

Not sure but I would think so. The bacteria has to be in the air.
