I just find it funny, where were all these people lauding all this Durant praise when he was in high school? Everyone talks about Durant like hes unfairly pegged number 2. Oden was a lock for number 1 since he was a sophomore in high school. He's only one of two players to win the High School Player of the Year twice. (The other being LeBron James, he was pretty good). Lead his team in scoring and rebounding and blocked shots and shooting percentage with a injured shooting hand while leading a team with a frosh PG to the national championship. Oden has never failed to dominate at any level. If the championship game is any indication, the sky is the limit.
As for Durant, he will be a phenominal scorer, but the reason he's second fiddle is basically what we saw in the losses to USC and Oklahoma St. He cant stop stronger or quicker players. Nick Young and Pruitt should have been stopped a lot more than they were for someone 6'10 with 7'4 wingspan. And Mario Boggan lit Durant up. What is Kobe and McGrady and Anthony and James, and Carter and Nowitzki and anyone whose stronger of faster going to do to him? He'll be great, but his weakness are bigger than Odens. Oden weakness is his range (Solid for a center) and his overall offense (rapidly improving).
They'll both be superstars, but itll be a TMac/Carter type star vs a Shaq/Duncan type star. One wins championships. One doesnt. guess which one wins?
As for the comment below mine, Oden's game is far from high schoolish as that same style of Game is what made Shaq and Wilt and Amare great. Outquick the defender and use your athleticism and reach to dunk on him. He's more polished than Dwight Howard and he averages close to 18 points a game. Odens offense will be there.
Secondly I can name more than two future hall of famers who've played over the last five years. Karl Malone, John Stockton, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Shaq, Duncan, Garnett, Payton, Lebron, and Wade.

Give them 2-4 years in the league, have the mature and develop. But in my opinion, Greg Oden is a future Superstar, who can carry a team deep into the playoffs. Like a Shaq.
I see Kevin Durant, needing help. Maybe like a Kevin Garnett.

My opinion on this is odd. Nobody seems to agree. I think the first pick should definately be Kevin Durant. He has the skills of Lebron James but has a better shot. He isn't as strong but is also taller. Oden is good but isn't offensively ready for the NBA. I think he will be a dud and will end up with injuries down the road somewhere but will be another Ben Wallace as far as blocking and rebounding.

OK, fist of all Olowokandi stood out plenty, he has like three NBA records. But thats not the Point
I think that both Durant and Oden will be big in the NBA. Im just not convinced that both of them will Immediately be big in the NBA. I mean what are the chances of two immediate impact players. They will both be good but not immediately

If I had a dollar for everytime a question about oden or durant was asked on this board, wow, I would be rich. Do you see the green line on the page that says "search for questions" look for the question before you flood these board with more of the same repetitive questions. And to answer your question, yes they are both gonna be good.

Stars, probably because their contracts will dictate that they get more than their share of opportunity.
Superstars, no. When someone says superstar to me I think hall-of-fame caliber player. In any five-year span of seasons, there are only one or two true superstars playing in the entire league. All others benefit from hype.
Oden's game is highschoolish. He will be a defense and rebounding specialist in the NBA. His only offense is a dunk.
I haven't seen Durant play enough to judge. Neither have NBA "bodies" yet.

Its not a question whether they will be superstars because they're sure to become perennial all stars.
The valid question would be if they will be hall of famers when all is said & done. Unfortunately we won't be able to answer this question definitively for at least another 20 yrs.
