Tonight i found two HUGE slugs clinging to my door frame... they were about 6 inches long.... Well they were get globs of slime everywhere and were killing all my plants so i tried to just shut the door, hoping it would squoosh them. Well they started to squeeze through the door!!! and i was totally freaked out and i attacked them with my only deffense..... salt!

Do you think that was cruel or just me practicing self defense, because they were intruding into my house? And i was afraid they would suffocate me in the middle of the nigh with yucky goo because i shut them in the door... I am aloud to protect my home, right???

Since you want to avoid another slugfest, just put a line of table salt across your threshold. It will keep the evil slugs at bay! You can also ring your garden with salt to keep the snails and slugs out, just remember to refresh it about once a week or when you see it getting thin. And slugs usually don't go out for revenge, so sleep easy!

Salt and slugs? NICE combination. Great for torture of garden pests. As for self defense? Against a slug? LOL!! Not like they're from a horror story right? lol. Nice question by the way.

I am somehow reminded of the movie Slither, Hey but a girls got to do what a girls got to do, and I have even heard an old wives tail about rubbing salt on door and window frames and even steps to keep the creepy, well slithery's away.

Um...I am not an animal right wierdo but that was a bit over board. Next time get a stick or a newspaper and remove them. No one has ever died form a slug attack. You can purchase stuff to put around the base of your plants to keep the slugs off your plants. Check out a garden store or http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=slugs+and+plants&fr=yfp-t-501&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8 for ideas about keeping them from eating your plants.

Oh ya, put a necklace of garlic around your neck tonight, their family may try and seek revenge.

Fun Fact:
A slug's slime coating is so thick that it can crawl over the edge of a razor blade and not get hurt.
The way I see it, you did what you had to do. Otherwise those slugs would start crawling all over your razors to prove how tough they were.

You are supposed to fry them in a pan before you put salt on them.
