The housewife should not be paid. Instead, she should be an equal when deciding how the family's money should be spent. If there is a purchase she would like to make for herself, then she should be free to do it as long as she doesn't blow the family's budget or go overboard. The spouse should have that discretion as well. In other words, the housewife should be a partner in the finances, not a recipient of a paycheck.

More than I ever made. I now work outside the home as a result. The government seems to have money to pay everybody else, imagine how much it would benefit families if they would stipend the stay at home moms! If I had to put a figure on what domestic engineers are worth, it'd be about 50,000 a year, at least.

based on education requirements, the long hours, and a the moderate level of integrity needed to raise somewhat decent children, you are looking at anywhere from 11-17 dollars and hour depending on where you live.

Paid? It is a choice to live your life as a mom, homemaker and wife.

If you want to break it down you can google for daycare, housekeeper and prostitute. Add it up and see if it is worth it to you.
