Because if we don't, then we need to go against the government. People don't like to want to have to do that. Unfortunately, they don't have a choice. Government is breaking the constitution, and they must be put in their place.

There are always going to be conspiracy theorists who cling to any minute inconsistency as proof. Did you ever see the list of government people that mysteriously died during the Clinton administration? I'm no Clinton fan but I don't believe that bunch of crap either.

We fear change.
It is easier to believe those we trust with our freedom than those who we have been indoctrinated to hate.
Do we really trust our government? No we don't. But we are willing to hand over our freedom and our rights and than blindly follow there propaganda.
If people come to accept that our country is in peril. They will have little choice but to get up and do something about it. Again the problem is that we have been conditioned with pessimism. As you have stated in your question. We desire to believe lies to make our lives more comfortable. Can't we just hang on the the illusion a little longer.

unbelievable that Americans believe anything they hear, yes i am American also but you should not believe this crap. We are in Iraq for what? WMD that were never found hmmm. The real reason we went to the Middle East was to find Osama Bin Laden "dead or alive" to bad hes alive and well b/c we are stuck in Iraq for no apparent reason.
