I personally agree that it's a woman's choice to decide, and I don't have a problem with it, but I'm just curious...

I think that abortion is the hardest decision that a woman must make. Plus the decision has an effect on the rest of her life. If it doesn't, then there is something wrong with the person. But I grew up when woman were making that decision and risking they lives in a back room. It is better to have it done where it can be healthier.
I do find it difficult to understand that people who are so against it, can still accept abortion if there is a rape. A life is a life no matter how it started - isn't it?

These other answerers are mistaken when they say abortion is "murder". That is an ignorant answer totally ignoring the facts about pregnancy and what women have to go through. Usually people who are against abortion are ignorant about the reproductive system, what entitles being a woman in today's world, and the methods used to oppress women in society. Basically, no one has an argument against abortion since contraception is not 100%. An abortion of an unwanted pregnancy is and always will be better than having to go through the damaging effects of pregnancy. Women really aren't given enough respect socially. The fact that women are the ones with uteruses is a powerful quality in women. This power and responsibility should be given to the ones who have to go through the incredible pain of passing an entire baby. Basically, abortion is good because women are powerful being who have a right to use their power for WHAT IS BEST FOR THEM.

There are circumstances in which one could be convinced abortion is the right step to take, however, I disagree with it. There are many who cannot conceive a child, and would consider opportunity to raise children, to those who would rather abort their unborn child. The issue/s or circumstances vary and are problematic on the topic, but I don't believe abortion is the only answer for a resolution. That's my opinion, thanks for asking.

Why is it presumed that the choice to abort is always "foolish"? You think it's particularly wise to have a child of incest, or a child of rape, or a baby with Tay-Sachs disease?

This "foolish" comment is really the root of the opposition to the legality of abortion. We girls are such "foolish" creatures, you see -- so it follows the government should decide what to do with our bodies.

I don't think it should be used as birth control, however, I'm not so naiive to think that if abortion is illegal it's going to stop women from having them. I guess I'd rather have it be safe and legal than some back alley butcher brutality. Lesser of two evils, I guess.

Well the question really doesn't apply to me as I was not murdered by a terrible, horrible, awful, immoral, genocidal choice of my mother.

But if I pretended to be a murdered fetus (one of 40 million) then I would probably hate abortion.

Redisca, classic tactic to pick up one word of my post and attack it, instead of dealing with the entire context of it. It's a good job at misdirection, but since it bothers you I will change it. I hope you like my new wording better.

It's Murder. A woman has a choice and a woman should have a choice. However, a woman must live with the choice she makes and deal with it's consequences.

I have a problem with it. Is it really fair to cut child's life off because you do not want the child.
