Try switching off & unplugging it, then plug in again & switch on. This works with our Fischer & Pykel, re-sets it or something
Good luck

I agree if it out of warranty buy a new one you will find that in the long run you may save money 'cos repair it now it could cost almost as much and something else will go wrong soon and so on. Sorry I don't like the disposable society either but that is what we have.

How old is the machine? Maybe it is just old.
Have you contacted Hitachi direct to see if they have a help line? Have you unplugged the machine and left it for a while so that any memory or logic it has powers down and is cancelled off.
Is it under warrantee and if so have you called them.
Try the forum on www.applianceguru.com
Alterntively go to the Hitachi website and see if you are able to download an alternative or updated user manuel for your appliance.

This must be quite an old machine, i know the fault codes go from f1 to f6, it sounds like a fault on the board itself, which is no longer available, Think you will have to get a new machine, best buy at the moment is Bosch classixx at John Lewis, get down there and invest in a new one.

Unplug it for about 10 minutes, Plug it back in, and you should be ok.
Call me if it still plays up, I'm cheap, easy, and very friendly ;)

Try repair clinic.com, put your model number in and trouble shoot, a very helpful site.
If you need parts, they have them for about the same price as buying local.
