I would say its a conflict of interest. But, I think by law you have too.

Police officers can, on occasion, use their discretion. Depending on the speed of the family member and the speed limit would dictate whether or not I would give them a ticket. I would reasonably try to let them off with a warning.

Yes. I have a nephew who is a police officer in NY. He asked me the same question. I told him if I was dumb enough to get caught, then he should do his job and write me the ticket.

My children.. probably.. if I caught them speeding and recklessly driving. They would need their butts to be whipping in shaped (I don't actually have kids)
I think it's more.. would you write yourself a speeding ticket?
I actually know one police officer that has done that.

Yeppers I sure would and some of them would get bad enough ones to have license suspended lol they don't need to be on the road, speeding tickets would be just one of the tickets some of them would get..lol

I read a story about a police acadamy instructor who ask one of his recruits what he would do first if he pulled his own mother over, the cadet replied: I'd call for back-up.

No, because I would be bias and giving a ticket (or not) to a family member would be based on emotion and not on facts.

star. if i was a police officer i would if they was speeding there are other.s out there that charish life due to this and speeding is a sure way of killing others . my opion?
