What is the difference between an allrounder and a bits and pieces of cricketer?

The margin of difference is quite thin between the two...
An all rounder is someone who is very successful both as a batsman and a wicket taking bowler and is also a decent fielder. Someone who can do the both exceptionally well.

However a bits and pieces player is someone who isn't very good at both batting and bowling however is decent at only one of them ..but can do the other and is used by his team to do act as a bowler and batsman. Someone who can bat and bowl well only to a certain degree of skill. Someone like this is more of a liability on the team rather than an asset. It's better to play a specialist bowler or batsman in place of such a bits and pieces player

allrounder can play as a formidable batsman or bowler in the team ,means have the ability to play at any situation.
ex: Jayasuriya
But bits and piece player can only do both the things random.He cant get place only as a batsmen or a bowler

Allrounders do one thing nearly upto the standards of a batsman (kallis or symonds) or a bowler (pollock).
Bits and pieces players cannot do anything properly. their bowling averages are in the 40s and batting in the 20s, when it should be the other way round.

To conclude, you cant play Bangar or Watson as a batsman or a bowler alone, but you can always rely on symonds and kallis for their batting.

Just watch the play of players like, Shahid Afridi ,Shoaib Malik and Chigambura, they all are kind of Bits and Pieces of cricketers. and when u watch the play of players like , Flintoff, Kallis, Vettori they play like the geniune alrounders.. now u can find the difference... :D ...
