I would suggest trying to get into a routine about an hour before you plan on hitting the sack. Something realxing and not too overstimulating.
Studies have shown that exposing yourself to natural sunlight as soon as possible after waking will wake all your senses and make you feel more alive. Step outside for about 5 minutes in the morning and see if it helps wake you up.

Try to lay down in bed earlier. Turn off all the "noise" and relax for an hour. By "noise", I mean, the t.v., talking on the phone, radio, thinking about overly important things. All this keeps your mind active long before you can fall asleep. You can read an easy book, or listen to quiet, calming music while lying down. Try camomile tea. Don't drink caffinated beverages after dinner. For me , I dont drink them past noon. You may have to experiment a cut off time from drinking them if they affect you. Don't exersize late in the day or at night. That will surely keep you up. Lastly, to avoid falling back asleep, I place my alarm clock in my bathroom and leave the door slightly open, so that I am forced to get up when it rings and then I slowly start washing up, etc. Mainly, think about what's keeping you up and what you can change. You have to want it.

I am the same way. I have always been a night owl, but also I need to be able to wake up between six and seven am. my mom taught me the best trick in high school when it was really hard for me to get up. she taught me to put my alarm clock on the loudest/most annoying setting and put it on the other side of my room. or at least somewhere where I'd have to get up to turn it off. Once you get up you cannot go lay back down, because they you'll fall asleep. You should then drink a big glass of really cold water. the water is refreshing and helps to wake you up without giving you a caffeine high or anything like that. It always works for me! hope it helps you out!

im the same way, and i could have the loudest alarm clock next to my face and i wont even hear it ... but unfortunally we all have to learn to wake up early! What has worked for me is as soon as i hear my alarm i sit up on my bed and walk straight to the bathroom, sometimes i would even fall asleep in the toliet so jump in the shower and you will soon feel a lot more awake. also, eat breakfast that gives you energy...
Your always going to have the feeling of wanting to go back to sleep but once you force your body to get use to having to wake up early, it will soon become easier.. its all about self discipline

I use the snooze button as a forcing function, but the other thing to do is drink lots and lots of water. This'll force you to get out of bed in the morning to go to the bathroom. Once up, stretch gently to wake up your system.Your sleep cycle should fix itself once you get up early on a regular basis.

I would say you are just a heavy sleeper. Try going to bed sooner. I don't really agree with drinking stuff and taking stuff to wake you up so sorry I'm not a great help.

I find that just sucking it up and getting out of bed helps. Also when I put in my contacts, it wakes my eyes up. Do you take a shower in the mornings? If not try that to see if it would help. Sometimes it's just shocking your body out of sleep. Because if you let yourself sit around you'll continue to feel tired.

Heavy sleepers often have sleep apnea, you might want to consider a sleep study to see if you have it.
