Apparently, everyone accept those that are politically invested in defeat.
Some simply put the importance of the phrase "I told you so" ahead of America's best interests - or the lives of our soldiers.

I would LOVE it if the surge were successful and we could turn Iraq over the Iraqis.

Unfotunately, there were no benchmarks, so it will be a matter of opinion as to whether it was successful. Politicians will claim both yes and no, depending upon what they WANT the answer to be.

But either way: if it is successful, then we should turn the country over to the locals and get out. If it is NOT successful, then we should realize that our continued presence there is doing them no good and we should get out.

Support the troops - bring them home.

Please explain how an escalation of violence in an already volatile region is going to lead to an independent Iraq. We are fighting in the streets of cities with people who hate us for what we have done to their homes, children, country on all sides of us. Many of the "good" Iraqis have brothers, uncles, cousins, parents, children, and even spouses that are members of the insurgency. This is exactly the "Nightmarish Quagmire" former President Bush predicted would occur with the full invasion of Iraq and the removal of Saddam.
All this is more of the same mistakes. It is like pouring gasoline on a fire to put it out.
