He's a great complimentary player for Dirk Notwitzki. He likes to mix it up inside and score but he can also step outside and shoot the 3-ball. When Dirk posts up, Howard can spot up on the perimeter and when Dirk shoots from the 3-point range, Howard can go inside and get the offensive board. As important as Dirk is to the Mavs, it is Howard who provides the drive for their wins. Howard has taken his game to a new level in the last 2 seasons and his stats remind me of a young Shawn Marion.

If you mean Josh Howard from the Mavs, he a pretty good player that can disappear sometimes. Over his career he averages 13.9 points per game, 6.2 rebounds per game, 1.6 assist per game and 1.2 steal per game. He shoots 46% from the floor and 36% from the three point arc. Playing the small forward position, he needs to become more consistent in shooting the three and finishing near the basket, in the style of offense the Mavs run in order to have a long NBA career.

He's never going to be a franchise player, but he's what every franchise needs. A do it all player with a small ego and contributes in every facet of the game. He's a protypical small forward in size, skill set and fuction. Can serve as a secondary scorer, secondary passer, tertiary rebounder and primary perimeter defender which he excels at. The top of the second tier of small forwards (Your Josh Smiths, Caron Butlers, Luol Dengs of the world) Doesnt have the upside of Deng or Smith but is a top ten SF in the league.

He is a great under the radar player, Hes an allrounder with good defensive skills. He will probably be in 4-5 allstar games and will always be a scottie Pipen to a Jordan (Josh to Dirk). Hes not flashy, nor is he a great scorer, he play fundamental BBall and does it professionally.

Among the current crop of young players, he's the closest thing to a Scottie Pippen that you'll ever get.
Very good on both the defensive & offensive ends of the game. he has a decent outside shot, a good slasher & rebounder. Can defend multiple positions (PG, SG & SF).
Unfortunately, he also shares the same trait as Pippen of being very good but not good enough to carry a team on his back. They're both the perfect #2 men if you want to build a winning team.

excellent player. can easily average 20 ppg, good rebounder and defender. to me, he is the difference maker on the mavs, not dirk, not terry, not harris, its howard. without howard dallas isnt that good. because howard is the mavs best defender and is the X-factor because he sets the tone for the mavs. remember the mavs are like 20-1 when howard scores over 20 points.

Good scoring, good percentages, not too many turnovers. He's the second most important player on the Mavs, and is in the running for the All Star game every year. Not bad for a guy who isn't a household name.
