I ate some pizza toppings (minus most of the cheese) from hawaiin pizza and I'm starting to feel guilty. Can anyone affirm my fears or comfort me from them? Thank you. Please be blunt and truthful.

No negative comments please.

Alas, typical pizza has few redeeming qualities as far as a healthy food (but it's yummy!) The crust is nothing but calories...if you get whole wheat crust at least there's something positive in that. Sauce isn't low cal, cheese is very fattening, and meats like sausage, pepperoni, or hamburger are typically high in fat.

You said you ate just the toppings so I'd assume you ate some ham and some pineapple. That's really nothing to sweat. Nothing to feel guilty about...the guilt in that pizza was in the crust and cheese. A cup of canned pineapple chunks has about 78 calories. A slice of ham lunchmeat is about 30 calories.

One slice of pizza is worth 9 Weight Watchers Points so its caloric content is approximately 450 calories. The majority of those calories are from the bread and cheese. Very few calories are added by the toppings UNLESS those toppings are fruit (pineapple is sometimes used) or meat (pepperoni, sausage, and meatballs have high caloric content.

You can often reduce the calorie content of a slice of pizza by putting a paper napkin or towel on the top of the pizza to soak up as much oil as possible. Oil is about 120 calories per ounce.

Both. Calories come from Protein (1 gram = 4 calories), Carbohydrates (1 gram = 4 calories), and Fat (1 gram = 9 calories). The crust is Carbohydrates and Fats. The sauce is mostly Carbohydrates, the cheese is Protein and Fat, and so is the meat. Pineapple is carbohydrates. So, you didn't save on anything by only eating the toppings.

You'll get calories from it all. You just get less fat (unless it's stuffed with cheese) from the bread, but more carbs. You get more fat from the cheese and meat, but less carbs. Probably the healthiest thing on a pizza would be the red sauce and veggies.

Aside from the cheese, the crust can be a problem, especially if it contain trans-fats. Of course, most of the dog meat people like to consume on their pizza isn't real good either.
