The way I see it in my mind

Thinking is all of our most basic functions, and with regard given to thinking which we all must do, then all of our ability's to like, dislike, love, hate are our feelings, and emotions formed by thought, and are also our inherent freedoms.

Our real and basic freedoms then should never be allowed to be restricted, that reverts back to basic thought, unless we act upon our thoughts with inappropriate action.

Therefor to make like crimes, dislike crimes, love crimes, or hate crimes as laws, which intend to be criminal by nature through free speech, then only infringes upon our most basic of freedoms, which is freedom of speech, and which must be formed by the act of thinking.

The only way such thoughts should ever be considered a crime, is if the thoughts are followed by inappropriate action.

If the act of committing a crime becomes our thinking, and feelings, which is communicated through free speech, then we are no longer free to think, or feel, and we might just as well not exist, and we will be living under communist dictatorship, rather than a free society.

What do you think?

i think you need less caffeine.
however- your freedom extends only to the extent that my ( freedoms) thought, actions, words, wants, likes, dislikes are not intruded upon or threatened in any way. your freedoms better stay away from my freedoms or else we must learn to co-exist peacefully with a truce type situation.

There are many forms of Freedom....political,.Religious,Thinking,..self-determination,.speech,. to assemble,..self expression, as long as it is not an infringement on someone else,s personal freedom,..ect...Freedom is a choice,..it is the option of having a choice,..in the way you live your life. A person is free to better themselves...and also Free not to better themselves. Intolerance, be it Political or in any other way..is an Infringement on the Freedoms a society may enjoy. Laws are meant to give Order and maintain a certain Social environment,..that is more or less Acceptable to a Majority of people in a Society. However,,some Societies are based on Ideologies that derive from Religious Doctrines as interpreted by a Few appointed or even self appointed Individuals...these are usually Societies that show the highest levels of intolerance to Individual Personal Freedoms...they tend to be more Theocratic and Thus do not separate Religion from societal Governing. for example the Islamic Country's. I hope this helps.

Freedom to means a lot of thing you never addressed.
Freedom to me means being able to go where you want as long as you can afford the trip.
freedom is being able to practices any religion you choose. Freedom is being able to pursue any career you like or think you would like Freedom of thought can never be restricted. How can you tell what another person is thinking?
Freedom also means you can vote for anyone you choose even if its for some goon that will mess up your country so long it will take generations to straighten out.

Freedom, i think we are free, free to think what we want, wear what we want and live how we want. If we don't want to believe in god then we can, and not get persecuted for it, IF we women of the world want to go naked in our own homes, we can, or we get to marry who we choose without being told too., We get to do as we please as long as we don't break any laws in the process. I think the is a wonderful life and wonderful country. I am not even sure i answered your question but i just wanted to put my 2 cents in anyway, you know why??? because I have the freedom to do so :-)

Hate crimes is based on the theory that it is worse to kill someone bc you do not agree with their religion, race, or sexual preference. I think your question is a good one and rather refreshing.
