My Aunt was secretively married in South carolina. She lives in N.C. Her late husband passed and she re-married this other man.She never reported her new marriage to the S.S.Administration.She was getting Social Security from her late husband, while married to this new one[who died 6 months ago].Now she has passed. But her Appointed Attorney[not a real attorney] knew about this but did nothing. The Appointed Attorney over her estate has taken everything from her children without their knowledge. My Aunt could not read,so her children are looking for proof that their mother did re-marry and if so,can they get this APO for fraud? Also is there a web site for that she can get free records of the marriage? They were married in York,S.C.

Getting a copy may be tricky... Firstly, get a copy of her death certificate. Take it to the appropriate County Courthouse and tell them that she has passed away and you need a copy of her latest marriage certificate. They should be able to help you.... They usually release records once a person passes away.

Good luck.

You can go to or write the county court house. They will have the original marriage licence, that you can pay a fee(usually $10) to have a sealed copy of.
