I have an Actiontec Router and I want to login to the GUI VIA the IP address of my router, http://xx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8080

When I am at home and type in http://192.168.1.1 I can login and see the GUI.

I am at work and am trying to configure the router so that I can hit the routers GUI from work.

I tried on the IntrAnet and I also tried an outside network connection and still couldn't. Any help configuring this would be greatfuly appeciated.

Thanks in advance for any help

The 192.168.xxx.xxx addresses are for private networks- they are non-routable, so you can only access the routers GUI using that address when you are physically on your local network.

If your Actiontec allows administrative login from the WAN side, just enter the public IP assigned to your router from your ISP.

But the whole point of routers is to isolate internal, trusted networks from the outside world. Enabling remote administration from the outside world allows every hacker
in the world to try logging in, too. You'd better have a very good password.

You could gain access to your router by having a remote access program like Gotomypc running on your home computer. From your office, you can login to that computer, then access the router normally at http://192.168.1.1

it sounds as in the adventure that your modems do no longer get sufficient cooling air. (they might die from overheating.) @Aaron: in case you forward basically the ports you like, your X-field will artwork. yet that isn't the specific modem, it incredibly is neighborhood cope with translation, in any modem or router, that motives the want for port forwarding.
