The strangest play I ever saw was by the Red Sox. There was a fly to Damon in Centerfield. He attempted to throw the ball to third to get the runner who was tagging. For some reason, Manny leaped in front of Damon (about 10 feet away) and "cut-off" the throw.

Strange. They still talk about it during games today, even though it happened about 5 years ago.

Fenway Park, circa 1990, don't remember the visiting team, the batter, or the infielders, but the man of the moment was Sox CF Ellis Burks.

Short fly into shallow center. Burks comes charging in, shortstop and second baseman also converging. Could have been a messy collision, but Burks bailed out and went into a feet-first slide. The infielders missed each other (thankfully), the ball came down and smacked Burks on the chest, bounced back toward the infield, and Burks clamped it between his thighs. Carefully removed it and held it up for the umpire to see -- Out!

How bout the play in the Cubs/White Sox game the other day. The White Sox thought they had a double play but all of the run downs were for nothing because after it was all done the Cubs instead of having 2 outs had the bases loaded because of interference that occured at the beginning of the play.

Unassisted Triple Plays are always cool.

The Beavers pulled off a weird scoring play in the CWS where the guy didn't tag up, but the other player made it to the plate before the guy on first got doubled up .

Late 70`s early 80`s Raphael Ramirez was shortshop for the Braves. A runner on 2nd & 1 out, the batter hits a sharp grounder right at him. He gloves it, but turns in a circle like he`s desperately looking for the ball. the runner on 2nd steps off the bag to go to 3rd & gets tagged out, Ramirez then throws to 1st to complete the double play. SLiiiiiiiCK !!

Izzy Alcantara drop kicking the catcher was really weird, but the weirdest of all time happened in 1908 Look up Fred Merkle and read about that one.

The ball bouncing off Jose Canseco's head for a homer when playing the Indians, I was at the game...pretty funny.

fly ball to left field caught for an out, outfield assist at home plate, 2 outs, and then runner trying to advanced to third base thrown out by the catcher 3 outs and inning over. happened in a twins game last year i think. :D

all in one play of course. inning ending tripple play

all i know it involved the reds in the early 70's.
either johnny bench was at bat, or of course the catcher in the play.
anyway, batter had two strikes, catcher, pitcher and coach (i believe) confered on the mound. catcher stands and calls for intentional walk, after 3 balls, on the next pitch, catcher drops to kneeling position, batter unaware let strike three go by.

Lo Duca tagging out both Kent and Drew at home plate last year was pretty unusual.
