.Change your fuel filter and see if that helps. When you ran out of gas any rust or debris present in the fuel tank will have been sucked into the filter, because you were drawing the last gas from the "bottom of the barrel" where all the nasty stuff was.And the old gas you added may have made things even worse

You soooo need to take it to the shop or ask a family member if they know someone who works on cars. It really sounds like you have more than one problem. Black smoke=burning oil=engine problems, fuel line definately needs to be fixed its dangerous in the current situation (guessing cuz i didnt look at it), Plugs? you probably do need new plugs and wires and air filter as well as the gas gauge fixed. Hope I was helpful.
Call your family's church and tell the pastor your situation and maybe he can come up with a mechanic who is a member of the church or they can help with the funds for you to go to the auto shop.

You may have a plugged fuel filter, I would check the simple stuff first .
If you don't have one, then it maybe inside the carburetor. Have a trusted friend check it out for you.
Something is clogged and preventing the gas from getting to the engine.
The black smoke tells me you were running very rich. ( to much gas ) Carburetor problems . Unless you are driving a diesel !

the older cars sometimes will pump engine oil through the fuel pump causing black smoe. also you may still need to change the pugs if you flooded themotor as to much gas will corrode the sides of the plugs and make them not fire properly. i woud also change the fuel line so that it does not any longer have a hard bend unless it is manuractured that way. you may also want to check the oil as the gas chould be going in the block from the fuel pump also.

There may be carburetor problems and the fuel filter may be plugged. You most likely did flood the engine and foul the plugs. The first thing is to get the filter and carb looked at. good luck.

sounds like you have carb. trouble. make sure the choke is working and not closing up on you. check the choke pull-off to make sure its pulling in, when you start it, so it can pull the choke open.

sounds like you need a serious tune-up, and maybe some carburator work.
