1. y = x + 5 + 9x / (x+5)
= x + 5 + 9 - 45 / (x+5)
so dy/dx = 1 - 45 (-1)(x+5)^(-2) = 1 + 45/(x+5)^2

2. y = 2.14 x^(-0.1) - 0.5x^(-1/5.4) + x^(2.9)
dy/dx = 2.14 (-0.1) x^(-1.1) - 0.5 (-1/5.4) x^(-6.4/5.4) + 2.9 x^(1.9)
= -0.214 x^(-1.1) + (1/10.8) x^(-32/27) + 2.9 x^(1.9)
