If you over do the canister filters like put 2 big ones on then 2 will be ok.

if you were to put 2, you would have to make sure that your tank is getting enough oxygen into the water. These things are big and require a lot of oxygen. consider a powerful filter and possibly a few air stones.

When fully grown you can possibly have 2. They get pretty big, and even 2 is streching it. Normally you have 1 per 55 gallons. Another tip...make sure you have a good lid, they get fisty when it comes time to feeding.

Wouldn't do any more than 2. I got mine 3 months ago and they have doubled in size in that amount of time and mine do get aggressive towards each other even at only 4-5 inches in a 55g.
