One of my friends at work said that Joe Torre died last season, and someone forgot to tell him. I think it's over for him after this year.

Torre deserves at least one more season to right the ship. The Yankees have made the playoffs every year since he's been managing them. I think they should fire Cashman, I think that he has made some questionable signings over the past couple of years starting with Giambi and ending with Damon. The Yankees is a team that got old very quickly. They should keep A-Rod next year, he has produced every year he's been there.
The problem with the Yankees is that they're playing every game this year as it was the 7th game of the World Series. They're a tightly wound up bunch, they need to loosen up a little. The Yankees of the late 70s was made up of assorted characters, who got the job done and were in the World Series for three straight years winning the last two (1977 and 1978). They need players in the mold of Reggie, Nettles, Goose and Thurman.

If Joe Torre is fired it won't happen until after the season is over. I don't think the Yankees would be willing to part with Torre unless they had someone in mind to replace him. Otherwise you'll be stuck like the Baltimore Orioles, a team without a manager.
But after the season (assuming they finish around .500) I'm sure nobody on the team will be safe from being fire, traded or let go. Expect heads will roll and money will be spent on rebuilding a new pitching staff.
New Flash; Yankees hire new manager, Joe Girardi and then sign Carlos Zambrano to a 8 year / $120 million dollar deal for the 2008 season.

No, of path not! If he does, then why did Roger Clemens come to the Yankees! Then who might cope with the Yankees. As of now, the pitching has been staggering however the Yankees are not hitting. the guy that would desire to be fired is Kevin long, the hitting coach(who became final year for Triple-A). even nevertheless he became praised for A-Rod's warm April, each Yankee different than Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, and Hideki Matsui is in a super hunch. Johnny Damon .256 2 HR 13 RBI Bobby Abreu .236 2 HR 21 RBI Robbie Cano .234 a million HR sixteen RBI A-Rod (this month) .259 and the record is going on............. proper now, the Yankees prefer a fascinating-exceeded bat because of the fact they're crammed with lefties. so as you will see that, the hitting is the yank's problem proper now. Kevin long has to flow!

I'm a Yankee fan But I'm going to crawl on a limb on this one. I think that if The Yankees don't at least go deep in the ALCS then both Cashman and Torre are gone.
As a great as I think Mattingly was as a player I don't want a guy with no managerial experience managing the Yankees. Girardi is the guy that George will go to.
If the the beloved Yankees don't make the playoffs at all The Stadium is going to look like the Place de la Concorde c. 1793-94

Oh come on. This has to be the biggest joke question ever.
The Yankees have the largest payroll of any sports team in the Western Hemisphere and they can't even manage to go .500? I understand that they had a few injury problems, but they are supposed to be healthy now and yet they've now lost 4 straight games and 8 of there last 11.
If it hadn't been for that 9 game win streak Torre wouldn't be around right now. Heck I'm confused as to why he actually is there. I mean if he can't lead his team to beat Colorado, San Fransisco, or Baltimore then how is he going to beat good teams like Detriot, Cleveland, LA Angels, or Boston so that the Yanks can make the playoffs? Oh wait, he can't.
If Torre is still around after the All-Star break then I guarentee they will miss the playoffs this year.

Torre should be fired, because he does not know how to use his bullpen. It seems that only Scott Proctor is the only one who ever pitches out of the bullpen. He can blame the team not performing, or not performing well at the same time, or injuries, but I mean it is almost July and this team of "all-stars" is three games under .500. I can't count how many times do I see Torre sitting on the bench with his hands in his jacket and not saying a thing. Brian Cashman also needs to go. He is the one stocking this team with over-paid under-achieving pitchers like Igawa, Clemens, Pavano, Jared Wright (last year), Randy Johnston (last year). I mean look at his trend of over-paying players; Jason Giambi is the third highest paid player in the league. Steinbrenner needs to go nuts on this organization, because with that team and that payroll, they should be in the driver's seat in the AL East. Hopefully Joe Girardi will come in as the new manager.

If they care more about winning than loyalty, then probably. But who replaces him? Girardi has proven he can manage, Mattingly has been waiting patiently on the bench. I think Cashman has to be on thin ice too; they have many arms in the minors and in 3 years could have a legit top five rotation all under 31. If they do start unloading/rebuilding job number one is to pick up a closer (Rivera is old now) job 1A is to find a catcher (despite his hitting this year Jorge is old too). If A-Rod goes then they need to find both righthanded and lefthanded pop, if he stays (hopefully) just a homerun bat from the left side. It may sound like a lot, thank god they got the $ to do it

Steinbrenner needs to be fired. He is the cancer at the top. The yankees have never won a world series since Soriano started playing full time.
