There are numerous Old Wives' Tales about ways to go into labor. Walking, having sex, eating spicy food, eating pineapple, drinking Castor Oil, nipple stimulation, driving down bumpy roads, washing floors on your hands and knees, and doing squats are all things that someone at one time or another probably did and then went into labor. Personally, I think she would have gone into labor with or without the sex or the spicy food. If there was anything you could do to make yourself go into labor then there would never be a baby born past his/her due date. I have 4 children who were all born past their due date (between 5-11 days late). With my first baby (born 9 days past her due date), I was soooo ready to try it all, but nothing sent me into labor, it happened when I least expected it. No woman has ever stayed pregnant forever, labor will start when her body and the baby are ready. I have never heard of peppermint being a labor starter, but I can say with certainty that it is also an Old Wives' Tale.

You don't have any manage over while you pass into hard work. It will occur whilst it is time, both you and little one will probably be equipped and particular hormones will probably be liberate or health practitioner can result in you with a few of these identical mentioned hormones to begin contractions. It is highly uncomfortable the final month, however alas it is simply side of it. @Jess-castor oil handiest offers you diarrhea and dehydrates you, possibly making it extra elaborate to begin an IV on the sanatorium (no IV=no suffering meds OR epidural!). It is theorized that intercourse, extra chiefly, the semen, can aid skinny the cervix, if dilation/hard work has already began.
