I drive a 41 year old car, and I always treat her to the best.

You drive a 15 year old car. If you intend to keep it and maintain it best, here's what you do:

Buy a "Desert Cooler" radiator. They're expensive, I paid $400 for mine. But over-heating is a thing of the past once you have it.

Replace your thermostat at the same time. Drill two 1/8 holes in the closing surface. It takes a bit longer to warm up, but when the thermostat goes south, you won't overheat your engine to death.

Buy nothing but Mercedes Benz coolant. It costs twice as much, but it's worth it. It has a corrosion preventative that's second to none, and it's got a liquid lubricant.

Why is a liquid lubricant important? All the other coolants (that bother to have a lubricant at all) use silicone. Silicone is a solid particulate that is suspended in solution. When it precipitates out of solution, it coats the lining of your cooling system and radiator, clogging them up and causing you to overheat.

That's why at 15 years old, your car need a new radiator.

You would use a replacement for the bad radiator. They make exact replacements built for your car.

if the reservoir was steaming put more fluid in it don't replace it. If the car continues to over heat then replace it
