A Sage is someone thought to have wisdom beyond that of the average person. If you would read abook instead of stealing all of the time you might have known that.

9 times out of 10 that's a sarcastic way of saying the advice you gave was stupid. Although that 1 out of 10 time they mean the advice you gave was actually very insightful and wise.

It means thank you for the wise advice, unless they were being sarcastic because you gave them bad advice and they followed it.
