He's defiantly worth the money the Red Sox are paying him. Although he's had some bad games, he's generally had better than average starts. You still got keep in mind he's new to league and so I expect some kind of transitional period. But the more he pitches the better he seems to get.
Just in his last 5 starts he has 34 IP, 42 K's and a 1.59 ERA, but just a 2-2 record to show for it. Great numbers for any pitcher. But your team has to score runs. In 5 of 6 of his starts this season the Boston Red Sox has scored 1 or less runs. Like today, if the Red Sox just gave Matsuzaka a little more run support we could be looking at a 12 - 2 record.
At least without a doubt he'll win Rookie of the Year.

"Dice K", Has not been great but, obviously not bad either. And if you'll see, he seems to be getting better each time he starts. He is a very good pitcher, but it's hard to say if he lived up to "the hype" or not. I think the only way he could of done that was go 20 and five or something, the way baseball fans are, especially in New England (Boston fans, Yankee fans, mets fans.. etc)

this has been asked time and time again, so the only new thing I can offer is this.
You may not know, but he is on pace for 20 wins. Whether he gets is or not we won't know until Oct, but I was actually surprised to hear that. In April I guessed 11-13 wins, but I was wrong.
He is also averaging 110 piches per start. That translates to wins when he's NOT on the mound due to resting the bullpen, and not letting the long guys who are not that good in the games he is pitching (Snyder, Pinerio)
I think he's been fine....look at the standings. That's all you need to know.
Last thing...to the guy who thinks his ERA is "terrible" his ERA is 3.80. The AL average is 4.43...hardly "terrible"

I think he is. After today his ERA is down to 3.80 and he has 110 K's.
Daisuke's biggest problem was that he wasn't getting run support in the beginning of the year and he definitly isn't right now. In his first 3 starts the Sox scored only 5 runs, 4 in his debut, that is why he started 1-2. In his last 5 starts he is 2-2 and the Sox have scored only 5 runs.

he's is doing about as well as can be expected.
Training in japan is different, there is less focus on weight training and more focus on repetition.
Give in a year or 2 with an american trainer and that fastball will liven up a bit.
I think he is doing fine considering the pressures of playing for the red sox.
hes doing better than any if not all of the yankees old behind pitchers :-)

I think that so far into his career he is living up to his hype. Pitching in Japan is different than pitching in the MLB. I know that he pitched lights out at the World Baseball Classic, but he is still adjusting to MLB hitters. He'll get better with adjustments and once he's faced batters enough to get a feel for them.

He is 100% overated. Not to say he isn't a good pitcher, he is, but people try to make him sound a little better than he really is.
First off he plays on a Red Sox team that is spectacular, which gives him some faith.
Second, yes his record is good but the amount of batters he walks and his ERA are just plain terrible.
