What do people think of surgeons? Is it something you look up to?

In general, I think surgeons are greedy, selfish, uncaring persons who don't listen to what patients say. Many of them will perform unnecessay surgery just to get a few more bucks; or operate on some one who will die anyway, just to "look good" and/or get a few more bucks.
A good surgeon (like a good anything) is rare and to be admired. If you find one, keep in touch: you might need that surgeon. But, for the rest, don't risk your life.

I think society has typically dictated that if you are a doctor or lawyer or someone who has spent several years in post education for a career..that is someone to be admired...but why admire someone for their career...admire them for what they do with it...and their life..."who they are as a person" as opposed to "what they do for a living"...Do their actions back up their words and vice-versa...just my 2 cents...
