In Researching politicians, I have come to a discomforting conclusion that neither side, (republicans and democrats) can not come to a logical agreement on simple things, for example, the war on terrorism, terrible things we're happening over there before 9/11, ( as we we're shown in the Gulf War). Why we didn't stop saddam when we we're over there in the first place, I'm not sure.
What i'm confused about is why so many people are agianst the war in Iraq. I am aware the the 9/11 attacks were not planned by Iraqi terrorist, but intstead Suadi Terrorist. But does that have to matter? Even if we didn't find the infamous weapons of mass destruction (which i've read we have and haven't lol), Is America not contributing to a very great, and wonderful thing in the World? We are helping put a stop to terrorism, we are saving lives are we not? We are helping build a peaceful and safe place to live for millions of families? Sorry if this info is inaccurate, there are so much biased people.. :(

I have no firm political views, my beliefs come only from what i believe is the right thing to do. It seems the reason that poeple believe we shouldn't be in the war, is becuase Bush is very 'clumsy' with his words, idk if this is true or not, or if it even matters... I would gladly die not only for my country, but for a secure and peaceful future of another country that seems to have 'been through hell.' Should people let go a little from ' the president's an idiot' and lean more towards, 'help stable a country, that needs a solid stability' ???
Idk, im 16, i dont know much, i havent lived much, im not even sure what religion i am lol, so if ya can go easy with the ' you got to be kidding me' type comments :)

"Passion" is the short answer. I am very passionate about our troops and sick of seeing another local military person from my area killed in Iraq. Is it really worth it?
Also the attacks on 9/11/07 is what caused a lot of us to NOT speak up when we first went to war in Iraq. I was still shell shocked from seeing all that happened on 9/11/07 and I am NOT privy to the security information that the President and key cabinet members have BUT I Have had it!!!!!!!!
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH Bring our troops home.
Let's stop meddling in the affairs of other countries and let's focus on defending America.
Also it needs to be pointed out that Iraq had NOTHING to do with the attacks on the twin towers on 9/11 or any of the other attacks on the Pentagon or attempted attacks elsewhere here in the USA. Bring our troops home NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Edit: it is a shame that people answering this question are passionate about the safety and well being of our troops and someone is giving thumbs down to some of the answers here.
I will NOT give thumbs down to someone who is sharing their heart about our service men and women and by the way I just gave "Stoney" a thumbs up. I only give a thumbs down if someone is being deliberately insulting, rude or downright nasty. None of the answers i have read here so far deserve a thumbs down. Whoever is thumbs downing should get a life.

Papa Bush was ready and willing to take off to Baghdad and get Saddam, but the UN said no, he agreed not to. mistake? we don't know. people here say it's the wrong country, he should be getting Bin Laden, Iraq's become a terrorist breeding ground, etc. well I say it's made Iraq a terrorist meeting place, they would be terrorist with or without the war. Bin Laden is insignificant at this point. the troops are now taking a somewhat offensive approach and going after the terrorist in Iraq, which is good. as for the person who said we have killed 500,000 innocent Iraqi citizens, he is very wrong. the enemy is responsible for almost all of those deaths.

Why so much debate over the War?
Because Iraq was never a threat to the USA. So it was and is an unnecessary war. It was sold to the American people under false pretenses.
For a war that is costing 500 billion dollars plus over 9 billion a month while it last; for a war that has cost 3500 American lives plus about a 100 a month while it last.
Don't you think the American people want and should debate this war.
This is independent of whether one thinks that invading a country and killing 700,000 of its inhabitants should be debated.

I hear ya. I was in Iraq for 6 months and my husband is their now and we are both pro war. Saddam needed to be taken out of power. He was murdering the poor curds as a way of genocide. This man was as bad as Hitler. Why the liberals think murdering innocent people is okay I dont know.

In your last sentence you apologize if the info is inaccurate and excuse it because of "biased people."

Do you realize that makes no sense?

The reason I have opposed the Iraq War from the outset is because after the 9/11 attacks the President promised to bring Osama and Al Qaeda to justice. Instead he chose to waste resources on a war in Iraq chasing an adversary who was NOT as big a threat to the USA as Osama was. Not only has GWB failed to live up to his promise, but Al Qaeda has grown stronger as a result of the Iraq War.

Add to that, Mexican gangs/terrorists, notably Los Zetas, are crossing our border at will and attacking and killing American civilians and cops. Troops that could be protecting our borders from such attacks are instead stuck in the middle of a civil war in Iraq.

We've killed at least 500,000 innocent Iraqi civilians while making America LESS safe since 9/11. Only the most stubborn and blind Bush supporters disagree with that.

We are not stopping terrorism, we are making Iraq a poster Country for the recruitment of terrorists. The war is wrong and we are still there, that is the debate.
