Nope, no true freshwater morays I'm afraid. Here's a couple of links to two pages (both are the same site) with some excellent info for you

While you CAN keep a gymnothorax tile in freshwater, it will suffer and not really live for very long. Check the links, very interesting info on keeping these bad boys

Yep, I agree that they are mostly brackish water moray eels. And only this when young.
I once bought a "reed eel" I swear that this was just a freshwater eel. Made a great petfish though. Would eat out of my hand. come to the top when called etc. Had to keep a tight lid on the tank though or it would go for walkies. Had to sell it when I moved house. Really sad to lose it.

I've owned a few "freshwater" moray eels, sundust moray eels I think they were called. They live fine in freshwater when young, but as they grow older then they require salt in the water. I would really classify them as brackish, not freshwater. It's only because the aquatic stores stock these fish when young and able to survive a freshwater tank at that age, that they're misleadingly sold as "freshwater" eels.

No there are no "true" fresh water moray eels. What the store has is just a fish that looks like a moray. Be sure to get the scientific name of the fish so you know how to care for it properly.

Morays are also not brackish water eels. All true morays are full salt. Even though eels are hearty creatures and can survive for a short time in brackish water they need full salt.

The American eel is the only eel species found in frewshwater rivers in North America
other fresh water eels are the European eel and the Anguilla anguilla

Here is a link that will explain the difference between salt water and freshwater "eels"

I don't know about other eels, but the European eel spawns in freshwater, then they all bugger off to the (Sargasso) sea to mature, returning to spawn where they hatched.

maray eels are tropical fish. to make your tank tropical just add a heater, there not expensive. most freshwater/ colwater fish are happy in tropical water. ask in pet stores

You will need marine salt for a brackish set up.. Not aquarium salt. You can order it online if you can't find it, but it's at all the big box pet stores.
