According to who? I've never heard one described as that. If anything, they are quite the opposite, most of them tend to have hoof-in-mouth disease in that they are too often blatently honest and without realizing it, hurt people. Example; your girlfriend asks, How do you think this turtleneck looks on me? Sag will say, "It looks great on you; it covers up your double chin." That kind of thing. They have a wanderlust trait, and always seeking out new horizons, but as long as you respect their need for emotional and intellectual freedom and don't fence the archer in, they are generally pretty honest up-front people. I have met a couple of them with afflicted Mercurys that were compulsive liars. Maybe that's what was meant; that some can be shallow, concerned only with what benefits them without regard as to the consequences their behavior or lack of truthfulness or integrity may have on others.
