My Dad has passed now but he remains with me in my heart . I could always count on his help and advice . He once even dropped what he was doing to fly 3,000 miles to visit me when I needed him . He was also a brave man who fought in world war 2 and served in several branches of the military , Navy , Army , Sea bee's and the merchant marines . He was very tough but fair and taught me well . I've never been in trouble with the law and have done well for myself and many thanks to him for teaching me right . He was also fun and had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around much as I do . Now that I'm older I only need look in the mirror to see him . He was and always will be a hero to me .

My Mom...where to start....She won 4 full scholarships to college when she graduated High School, but she went to work right after her H.S. graduation, 'cause it was just my Grandmother, my Great Grandmother, Great Grandfather and my Uncle Andy (who was 18 months younger than Mom) My great-grandparents were elderly, and my Grandmother was their sole support-for all of them- (now THERE'S a story!) She never got enough education, she took courses in EVERYthing her whole life! She didn't tell me the story of her scholarship offers; I found the papers after her death in 1999. AND: she was ALways right, and she let me do it my way, every time. (slow learner, here) NOT ONCE, not ever, did she say "I told you so." (The woman had a grip on her self-control!) I do not have that kind of character.I always wanted to be like her. She was the one my friends all came to with scary personal stuff, 'cause they couldn't tell their parents. Oh. She married my Dad when he was in the Navy, in 1942. I was not quite 2 years old when they divorced. Years later, after Dad died, I asked her about their divorce. (I knew he drank-she never kept us from seeing one another) and she told me this: One evening he raised his hand as though to strike her. She left him, and she never reconsidered. She taught me early that if a man hits a woman, he will always be sorry, and he will always do it again. My Dad loved her all his life. Mom remarried when I was 5; to a man I picked up in the lobby of a movie theater when I was 3. (I am not the judge of character my Mom was, but I know PRETTY when I see it!!) They were married until she died, 51 years, almost. These two people had more character between them, than the whole rest of the people I've known in my life, combined. (And I know people of good character, believe me.) I never had a doubt in my mind who had my back. WHEW! I haven't had anyone to talk to about Mom in a while...my best friend died 1 year ago June 22nd. My son and my brother have HEARD my stories; boy, have they! Thanks! This was such a good question, my one star doesn't seem like enough! (of course, I'm not the only one who stars for you, am I? }:> Your wife is a lucky woman, dragon.

My dad was born 2 months premature in 1938...back then, the doctors didn't even attempt to save a baby born that early.
His mom had already lost one child, so when she heard that the nurses had just put him in a bassinet and left him to die, she got furious, took him home and kept him alive. The only real problem he had was that he was almost entirely deaf. My grandma worked with him and taught him to speak. So, anyway...I think that it is pretty cool that he survived...It's also pretty cool that my grandmother was so stubborn and determined that she didn't just allow him to die.

My mom is a Humanities teacher at a high school in a VERY small town in Ok. so, you can imagine all the redneck boys.....every year she takes them to the ballet &, before the ballet, they ALL go through a ballet class. Not only is it cool that she exposes them to culture they would never seek out themselves...it's REALLY funny to watch them trying to do the dance moves!

My dad owns several international patents for items he's designed which have brought the heat-set printing industry out of the stone age. He's been a highly respected OEM for many years, and is my most trusted business mentor.

My dad has been in numerous commercials that many of you might have seen. Remember a bank commercial with Paul Revere riding through the city? Remember a man getting frustrated with his car and pushing it off a cliff for Prudential insurance? He was on a sitcom on TNT.... cancelled after two years.... but hey, he was on it. Oh.... can add something about my sister? She was on THE very first episode of "Trading Spaces!"

The television show "20/20" once did a story about my dad. But, it was more of an expose and made my dad look pretty bad - which, in all honesty was probably an accurate portrayal.

My Dad:

He's the sportiest person alive on Earth.
He loves laughing and joking like me. He can even make the rain laugh.
We both are competetive in everything, from sports (he's a master in football and table tennis) to studies ( he was a topper in his days).
We both have the same taste in music, food and movies.
We both love Mr. Bean.
He calls himself 53 years young (not old).

Even though I keep on arguing with him on every subject, I Love Him.
