I keep hearing people say this, but no one has given a specific example. It's easy to see that Fox News leans to the right, but what are the reasons some people think the major networks are liberal?

Because right wing media keeps repeating it.
The FACT is 6 large conglomerates own 90% of ALL media in America.

For those who are more interested in fatcs than sound bites I submit.

You need to read something other than the liberal rag sheets and watch something besides CNN etc. A prime example of biased reporting is the emphasis CNN put on Bush's low rating while not mentioning that Congress had an even lower rating. Whenever a story can be tainted by leaving out important facts most of the liberal rags and networks do it. Luckily those with inquiring minds can check foreign news sources and also Fox News and get the opposite view on things.

While most Media outlets run the same stories, you must look at the spin that each one puts on it. ALL OF THE MEDIA purposely tell the news in a light that reflects the point they want to get across. By realizing that most major networks favor liberal candidates and liberal agendas we can easily come to the conclusion they support the left.

Only because the mainstream media more often point out some flaws in Bush, Cheney, Iraq, and others.
I think we have poor news coverage in general, and I don't see ABC,CBS, PBS, CNN or MSNBC as left of center. Thes folks who think mainstream media is left wing it's because they are so far to the right they don't want to hear anything else but their own side. I am a liberal democrat (but not leftist; that implies military enforced social control like the USSR and Cuba) I love to watch some Fox news, because I can see through people like Sean Hannity and Bill o'Reilly's arguments.

Because they are stupid.

Anyone who says that CNN or any other major media outlet is liberal disregards the fact that the majority of media outlets are owned by CEOs who have admittedly endorsed the GOP for the past 8 years. Do the reasearch kids. Time Warner isn't as liberal as people say it is, infact, they were one of the major Bush doners in his '04 reelection.

I don't think they really believe it (you would have to be pretty far removed from reality to believe that CNN and the New York Times endorsing Bush in 2000 is proof of a liberal bias). They just keep saying it as it is a lot easier than actually accepting the valid criticism they are getting from the media.
It is just another element of the denial strategy.

It's the way they report the news. They leave out parts of the story that they don't want the public to know. For instance, they report the few bad things that go on in Iraq, but not the good. I have friends that were over there that tell me that in most areas life is going on. schools are open, businesses are thriving, they have water and electricity and things they never were able to have before. A huge majority of mainstream media donate and give their votes to the Democrats.

Perhaps you'd like to enlighten us: Has FOX fabricated any stories detrimental to dumbocrats and fraudulently presented them as fact in an effort to sway an election the way SeeBS and Dan Blather did?
No whining please, just document one specific example where it was proven and acknowedged that FOX invented facts and used an experienced reporter in an slimy effort to fool viewers like SEE-BS.

This was part of the big lie concocted by the Right (Newt Gingrich) in the 1980's. They believed if they could spread this lie, the press would loose credibility with the public, so when any negative story's were told about the Republicans they could cry "Liberal media bias!" and people would think "you know, I've heard about that". It really is quite brilliant of them, but they stole it from the Nazi's.

It's the Big Lie, repeat something enough and people accept it as true. Conservatives like to complain about the media the same way that basketball players like to complain to the refs. They figure it gets in their heads and maybe it affects the way they do their job the next time around.
