Does anyone know of a specific case of spanking (with the had only) that has caused injury? Please, not like "yeah it happened to my friend once," but rather an actual, documented case. I'm having a debate, and this would help immensely! Thank you VERY much in advance, I can't find a case anywhere online.

Not "shaken baby" cases, actual open hand spanking. Thanks!

I'm looking for an actual case, not your view of spanking, sorry. Don't answer this for the sake of getting points, please. I'm trying to find a case as quickly as possible.

PLEASE STOP answsering this question with your view of spanking. Don't suggest methods, don't say what you did as a parent.

My mother loved me very much, especially as I lost my father when I was only eight.
She worked very hard to keep me fed clothed and schooled.
Consequently in those days she got stressed out quite a lot and resorted to whacking my backside when I was a little 'devil'.
On a couple of occasions she smacked me when I was innocent. I really resented this 'unfair' treatment. The other smackings I accepted as just reward for my sins.
The resentment remained with me, even when I was old enough to understand the reasons. It actually spoiled my love for my mother because it confused my trust and confidence in her as my 'protector'. Although I loved her deeply I always had reservations, even as an adult.
Fortunately, I didn't develop into a maniac or weirdo but I think my life would have been much happier without these memories. So I would never hit a child, no matter how naughty they might be. Children thrive on love not fear.

Injury to the person being spanked is superficial. Bruising, redness, welts. Injury to the person doing the spanking can be more severe. Breaking hand, dislocating wrists, and shoulders, back injury and in some cases heart attack.

Can't cite a specific case but I suspect it would be very rare provided the spanking with the hand is "age-appropriate". And I strongly suspect there are kids who have been injured when they are trying to get away from whoever is holding and spanking. I heard, for instance, of one lad, about 8 I think he was, who struggled so much (against an inept mother) that he dislocated his shoulder or some such thing.

Just giving your child a smack on the butt, does not cause injury, or I never heard of one. What you want to focus on is the out of control spanking and how far parents go... And it does lead to abuse... You might want to look up abuse..
Like some kids can remember getting spanked with a electrical cord, a switch, bet, spoon. The list goes on....
You will find more cases in this aspect of spanking..... Good Luck.
Abuse would be a strong thesis to start out with.... Spanking can be deadly if .........you get the point..... and then explain in stages.....

Spanking is hitting, therefore a lot of children have been injured. I used to spank and have when my kids run into the street, won't hold my hand, etc. But, only because spanking is preferable to being hit by a car. Think about it...spanking hurts. (Most of the time, no matter how many times they chant "That didn't hurt!") Physically and emotionally. So, in essense...your kid pills his juice, so the punishment is damaging the tissues in his or her hands/butt/leg. I know my grandneice had a bruise on her butt when my dumba$$ brother in law spanked her.

"Research shows that spanking is correlated with
later antisocial behavior, and that children who are
spanked are much more likely to be aggressive to
peers at school."
http://incestabuse.about.com/cs/childabuse/f/cabusespank.htm
"Spanking is definitely not recommended for children younger than three because it's just too easy to injure a small child." . . . "Studies show that increased behavioral problems occur when teenagers and older children are spanked or otherwise physically punished."
This is not necessarily my position. But you weren't asking for my opinion were you?

Well, if it doesn't hurt and/or cause injury, why do it? That makes no sense. The point of spanking is to hurt someone as punishment for being naughty. Otherwise, you would kiss them and give them a big hug.

Spanking is a violent action. My 6 siblings and myself were spanked. They ALL grew to feel that violence is an acceptable part of life. They abuse their kids and all 5 sisters choise violent abusive men and only one was able to get away. 3 have lost custody of kids. One is dead. I ended up in therapy and was able to embrace a non-violent life. I was not able to have kids (cancer).
