neither, boil something on the stove like cinnamon, lemon or orange peels mixed in. The oil from the fruit will spread thru the air. If you are not in a place with a stove, light scented candles. They work, too and if it is something not likely to fade away on its own, you need to get to the source and clean.

I use Bath and Body Works Wallflowers!
The down side of these, however, is that anything that plugs in for that purpose, has the ability to start fires.
