Uck, no. Not unless you're used to sleeping on the floor or you don't put the futon on the frame it's designed for. Because the mattresses are heavy and lumpy their stuffing slides between the bars and you get the "princess and the pea" syndrome as my mom calls it. Leave it folded out with wood covering the slats or plop the mattress on the floor if you want a good night's sleep. Good Luck!

in MY opinion...... since i grew up sleeping on one almost everyday til i was 8....... a futon is comfortable. not as much as my bed now, but not a bad sleep in the least.

It deepends on what you consider comfortable. My futons mattress is about 3 inches thick and I have no problems.

Not the one we had where the mattress was a giant wad of cotton -- it would pack down and was hard as a rock on all the pressure points.
We eventually bought a memory-foam mattress and it's much nicer now, though not used for sleeping (wink wink!).

About as comfortable as sleeping on a ladder.

Yes, if you're accompanied by the appropriate "muffin of love" --- a 35 yr. old Virgo named Christianne comes to mind :)))
