If you remember correctly all smurfs were male, until Gargamel created smurfette to spy on the smurfs, she was evil, but the smurfs figured out how to make her good. End of story!

THAT is a very good question. All the Smurfs had to come from somewhere. If I had to guess, I would say she was captured and eaten by Gargamel. As a side note, Smurfette was a VERY BUSY girl smurf. ROTFLMAO!!!

Didn't the only girl come from some evil enemy? I think that there are no female smurfs..the mad scientist created her, but you can't actually give birth to one..
