Most senators seats are safe. It is very difficult to defeat an incumbent senator. We should concentrate on defeating the Repub senators who voted for cloture, as most members of the repub party are very strongly against the amnesty bill. Of course, we must defeat any presidential candidate who voted for this shamnesty bill!
The following senators voted "YES" on cloture, which, on this matter, was the same as a voting to pass the amnesty bill.
* Presidential candidate
Akaka (D-HI)
Bennett (R-UT)

Quite simply, NO! When conservatives swallowed their gag reflex and voted the libs into the majority during the last elections they were sending a message to republicans that forsook core conservative values. The people as a whole on both sides of the aisle are much more upset about this immigration bill than they were last election. I would be surprised if every single lib and repub that voted for closure or this bill were still in office after the next election cycle. I can already see TV campaign ads bosating about the fact that the politician in the add DID NOT vote for the amnesty bill.
If you did not already know it, let me tell you now: This immigration issue is the most pivotal issue of the last few decades for conservatives.

It would be great if the American electorate wakes up from their prolonged stupor, and votes every incumbent in congress out of office. This would constitute a surge and purge, a long overdue political enema. Maybe then, the corrupt politicians would think about representing the people, and tell the lobbyists (bribers) to go to hell. Currently, the U.S. government is bought, owned, and controlled by big corporate criminals. Take notice of the scumbag congressman William Jefferson, of Louisiana, who was caught with tens of thousands of dollars in his freezer. Is this low-life S.O.B. representing the people of his district? Where is the ethics committee? Is there an ethics committee? It really doesn't matter now! The U.S. Congress has degenerated to a level of total ineffectiveness and is a fraud upon the American citizens.

In all fairness they didn't vote yes on the bill, they voted for yes on the first cloture vote. There's another cloture vote tomorrow. Cloture just limits the ability to debate.
Is it a bad step, definitely yes. Is it the last step, definitely no.
Plus it still has to get through the Senate where they face reelection every two years. Hopefully they'll be a little more willing to actually pay attention to the American public.

I certainly hope not, republican or democrat!!!! I think people need to pay very close attention to who these traitors are and act accordingly. I'll say one good thing about this idiotic bill, at least MANY of us on both sides are now agreeing on something.

I would hope not especially if you called them and told them to vote no. They have betrayed the American people and should be fired although what is our alternative?

I can only hope so. I wonder if they really think that it is going to solve our problems. Don't they realize that we don't trust them to follow through and enforce the new immigration laws anymore than they enforce our current immigration laws.
