I need reliable scientific proof about the evolution process, and how we and the universe came to be, and by that same token, some information to dispell creationism.

Yeah, this is one of those evolution/creationism debates that I have gotten myself into with a hard-core religious person. I am atheist by the way.

While I respect the religion of others, I will most certainly defend evolution against creationism anyday.

I have done my research, but am looking for additional information to present to the person I am debating with.

Here is the single best place I've found for that sort of info:

You'll find just about every point to counter every creationist argument. You'll be able to find book recommendations. Lots of similar minded people you'll likely enjoy too. Also here is a good book to get you started:

BTW the above is simply flat wrong. That is what Pastor Bob will tell you, but that is not what science reveals.

Creationism is not a scientific theory. A scientific theory has to be falsifiable, meaning that if certain evidence was found it would be shown to be false. Also keep in mind that evolution is a theory in the same sense of the word as in the phrase 'theory of gravity'. There is not scientific dispute that it exists at all. What is not certain is how all of the particular mechanisms work.

Explain how all the elements of a human cell came together through evolution. This is like saying: "There has been a tornado and a Boeing 767 has been created from the wreckage". And now explain how it then got it's memebrane so important to keep the elements safe together. We need a plant the size of NYC to produce one such living cell... and we have billions upon billions of these cells in our bodies. There is no reliable proof to back the process of evolution. Science today is teaching us more and more that there is a God!

Creationism can not be tested. therefor you can not disprove it. both are theories, and the earth evolved so long ago that they do not know which one. they can only say that evoloution and or creationism could have occured. Yes there is alot of evidence that Evolution has occured, just look at charles darwin websites, trust me there is a lot.

The truth is undeniable:
We do not know which is true
I guess we'll have to wait until we die to meet god or until we find the missing link..
Until then the only thing you can be sure about is that this argument will always exist.

good luck in finding your information(if you believe in luck)

The debate is over!! To quote Lewis Black, "We have the fossils. We win."

I am an atheist because I don't believe in deities and the word atheist describes this state of disbelief. I don't believe in deities because no argument or evidence presented to me in support of their existence has been convincing.

1. Biology adequately describes life and emotions without appealing to mystical invisible dieties

2. Astronomy adequately describes the formation of stars/planets/universe/etc without appealing to mystical invisible dieties

3. Geology adequately describes the evolution of the Earth, land formations, etc without appealing to mystical invisible dieties

4. Psychology describes the human psyche better than appealing to mystical invisible dieties

5. Appealing to mystical invisible dieties is an appeal to ignorance

6. There's no physical evidence for the existence of mystical invisible dieties

7. A myriad of mystical invisible dieties have been posited by emphatically superstitious societies and have been proven to be products of overly active imaginations (today's religion is tomorrow's myth) and ignorance.

8. Believing in mystical invisible dieties seems to become quite absurd when those who posit the mystical invisible dieties begin explaining why and how they exist in the face of contradictory physical evidence.

9. As scientific knowledge increases, the role of the mystical invisible dieties oddly gets pushed further and further back.

10. Mystical invisible dieties are mystical invisible dieties (ie can never be found by empirical methods)

That should be enough to get you started.

Sorry qwerty, Creationism is a fact, all things know this inately, the facts of evolution prove creationism. The awareness of this is contained within your own heart.

You're just pitting your faith against someone else's faith. It never leads anywhere but destruction. Just live as you see fit and let others do the same. Good luck finding that "proof".

There is absolutely nothing you can say to a Christian that will sway them from their mythological thinking and beliefs. These people cling to these beliefs for many reasons. You will better off persuing fruitful endavors instead of wasting your time trying to take their crutches away.
