I thought vince was dead (according to the storyline). Then all of the sudden he shows up talking about the benoit deaths. WHAT HAPPENED.

Vince's "death" was publicity stunt. They scrapped it when story broke about Benoit, who really is dead, along with his family.

Our young former Spirit Squader and turned animal wearer Kenny Dykstra revealed online that the storyline was to be that Vince would berate the audience for not appreciating him while he was alive so he wanted to be appreciated in death.
It was a rash (ie QUICK, spontaneous) decision by the WWE to, in less than an hour, dismiss the fans, scrap the storyline, and have a three hour Benoit tribute.
Then, at about the time of the end of the live tribute broadcast, the authorities reveal what they find out about the nature of the deaths. Suddenly, the situation changes. The tributes on the WWE web site stop. The tributes on the TNA web site are taken down. The tone changed.
That is what happened.

It's only a storyline, you said it yourself. The Benoit murders are real life and the WWE needed to say something regarding the incident.
Also, I'm sure many people would find a storyline involving Vince's "death" to be very inappropriate at this time.

They were scheduled to run the Vince is Dead storyline, but their plans changed due to the death of WWE superstar Chris Benoit.

Vince Mcmahon on Monday Night Raw came on before the Chris Benoit tribute and said that that night was supposed to be a tribute for his demise, but instead will be a tribute to someone who REALLY died, Chris Benoit. Meaning, he killed the storyline. It's no more. He realized it was wrong as there were real people dying.

Because of Benoits real death Vince stopped the Vince death storyline.

He wasn't really dead it was just in the storyline but when Chris Benoit and his family died Vince scraped the storyline.

vince did die in the story line however in light of the recent events involving chris benoit. wwe hs decided to abandon the vince dead story line and instead move on . he first appeared at the benoit tribute and began by saying what I just said.

I t is called entertainment they kill off somebody and down the line they come back and i guess the storyline with vince was overtaken by the real deaths of beniot and his family. So he did'nt really have any choice but to come out of hidingabd run the company in mourning
