children are our future because they are a clean slate they have no preconceived ideas or opinions...they can be shown the errors of the old way so they can make a better future.....and our childhood is only in our past if we leave it behind..certain aspects of childhood have to be left behind to become a responsible and contributing person , using what we learned in childhood to improve our surroundings..... but the curiosity, the honest, the "innocence" to an extent , the ability to change and see the world for the miracle it is...that part of childhood we can take with it...being an adult does not mean you are done growing...to believe that you know all you need to know means you have ceased to live a constructive life....

Hm, interesting question.... We are the future to our parent's generation.... I don't have any children, and used to have a problem with it that our property taxes tax you to support the local school system, if you have children or not, or without regard to the number of children in the household. But then it occured to me one day that if I have them or not, today's generation will still be the people who are in charge when I am doddering around some nursing home, and it is in my best interest to make sure all children get as good an education as possible in the local school system, so now I no longer gripe about paying for other people's kids to go to school....

As Freud said, "The child is father to the man". All our lives begin in childhood, and we have a part of us that for our lifetimes remains a child, vulnerable and filled with wonder, looking for connection with those most important to us.

Children are our future in the immediate sense simply because they are the next generation, and psychology shows us that the way we interact with them has a big part in wiring up their brains, which in turn will play a part in the direction that humanity takes collectively. Children aren't our only future, they will one day be adults and other adults will follow them; but they are the next step that makes sense that we have the best chance in investing in.

"Children" as a whole will always be our future. Children grow up, and become the adults that rule the world, so they are no longer the future, but the present. Then their children are the future.

we have to believe in the people that will inhabbit the earth in 40 years, and they're children now. we used to be those children but have grown up and now must do the same as the people that believed that we were their future during our childhood.

Because the future becomes the past in due time... If time is a line, then the present is an ever progressing slider along the line; overlapping each point as it reaches it.

it is not all in the past our memories are with us always, but our mental and physical age should play as big of a part as they can in who we are today and if we want the rights and priveleges of being a child or an adult then we should try to have some integrity in being those things, if we want to accord all people the same rights and the same priveleges and have no laws about that then that might be different
