"painfully" shy. Now I can see that if I had
been more engaging with others, I would
certainly have had more friends. But I did
develop 3 close friends and high school was
my favorite time in my life. So relax, and enjoy

In my high school, it was money. The children of doctors and lawyers were popular, the others were not. Even lower and middle class cheerleaders and athletes weren't really popular, they were just kind of there.

Well honestly popular people "the jocks" "cheerleaders" are snobby and mean people that care only for looks. The type of popular where everyone loves you if your really nice, honest, sweet and you act like yourself, and especially if you don't talk behind people's back :).

sadly how they dress and talk and their actions. girls who flirt and have a ton of boys r "cool" and guys who "get some" are also cosidered popular. NOT TRUE!! the people who are nice and kind are the ones that people will remember when they r in an old persons home. people only do bad stuff because they see it in movies

Well People tend say that the (cheerleaders and sports players are)... But you are popular in your own group...There is not such thing as being popular but people make it that way...Just like people put people in different groups like sports, burnouts, geeks...that's just how schools are now(witch sucks)

It all depends. If you go to a free public school then it's looks. Also it seems liek the stupid girl who have a GPA of 1.8 end up popular. If you go to a private school like me (which costs 15,000) then you become popular for the stuff/money you have, you looks, how much makeup you have, the types of designers you wear, and if your stupid. Whatever makes them popular to most people are usually utterly pointless in life, and I seriously have no idea.
Creating system disks are far more important to me.

Well in my opinion... all it really takes is self-confidence. If you act like you belong to the in crowd and you know who you are. Then generally they won't disagree. If you pay attention to that crowd... they know who they are... they are confident in themselves, be that and talk to them you make the first move. It workes. It helps to have good hygiene and decent style clothing... but mainly its all about attitude!!

personaly, i think the whole ''popularity'' thing is so retarded. as long as you have your own good style and charicteristics, your good. ppl think you have to have a specific style, likes and dislikes, personality, bla bla just for them to be frinds with you. DR, DR,DR!!!! get a clue! it dosent matter, in highschool, all that should matter is your grades. friends too no doubt. well, thats what i think. what about your opinion?
