Here is the dilemma: The SEC is at a disdvantage because of all the top programs in its conference. So, I created a made-up conference to try and match its power. Yes, SEC has 2-3 teams each year that are gimme games (Miss. st., Ky, sometimes Vandy): Here is what I came up with: USC, Texas, Nebraska, Ohio St., Michigan, Miami, Texas A/M, BYU, Florida St., Penn st., Notre Dame, Boston College (I stuck them in there because I needed a Big East team).

HEY COACH, I think tiger's point is to say could someone in this conference go undefeated EVERY year?
I agree with tiger, again. That "fantasy" conference would match the SEC well. Think of all the GREAT SEC teams: LSU, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida. The fantasy list compares pretty well. However, I don't see 6 programs that compare to those (maybe 5). BYU would be at the bottom of your fantasy conference every year..lol. USC and Ohio St. would dominate it (most years). Let's see an undefeated team from this conference EVERY YEAR. Same as SEC. Good match tiger.

The SEC is at a disadvantage because the BCS will choose undefeated teams to go to the Championship game. Then again difficulty of schedule is considered. Your made up conference in way too strong compared to the SEC. Sports are cyclical eventually the plates will shift and programs will wax and wain. What ifs are fun. Having good talent conferences make for more entertaining seasons. The better the conference is the better it is to watch. Better than watching Boise State crush all their conference games. This is also why the Gators and Trojans beat Ohio State and Michigan in bowl games. Because the Big Ten has lost its mustard and the SEC and Pac Ten are rising.

If I were to construct a dream conference to rival the SEC I would bring in teams that ofcourse could contend, Play in Huge markets, and also have tradition not to mention logistics, and ofcourse not taking all the best teams to create a superconference. USC no need to explain I hope. Next we bring over UCLA, they are on the "up and up" will only get better and have a rather large fan base. Texas which needs no explanation. Nebraska and Notre Dame great traditions and have a band-wagon following. Ohio state because tressel is one of the brightest minds out there and also Iowa who year in year out are pretty good in the three major sports. Wisconsin because we cannot take all the best teams in the Big-12. BYU as well as Clemson, FSU, and Maryland.

Give them about 2-3 years, and the ACC alone will be that "fantasy" conference to match up with the SEC.

Teams that will make a National Title impact...
Florida State
Miami
Virginia Tech

Teams that will soon make a Top 25 impact...
Maryland
Virginia
North Carolina
Wake Forrest
Georgia Tech
Clemson
Boston College

The rest...
NC State
Duke

FSU and Miami will improve under their new leadership, North Carolina is a power to be seen soon with Butch Davis at the helm, Wake Forrest has started their uphill rise with their coach sticking with them, and Virginia is constantly improving.

The rest are usually good to begin with, and will get stronger. The ACC is on the rise, and like I said in a couple years will challenge the SEC all on its own.

For one, Kentucky and Vanderbilt are never "gimme games". They always play hard and if you didn't notice, Kentucky has one of the best quarterbacks in the nation right now (Andre Woodson) and a very good running back (Rafael Little). They also finished with a winning record and won their bowl game against Clemson.

Secondly, that conference could be good. USC and Texas may put up good fights against the SEC, but all the others would get slaughtered.

I'm sticking with the SEC so i'll match them up against Big-10 (Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State), Pac-10(USC), Big-12(Texas and Texas A&M), ACC(Virginia Tech, Florida State, and Miami), and Big East( West Virginia and Louisville). Overall I say that the SEC will win most if not most of those matches.
