This morning, I saw its head poking out the same end of the track that it went into. When it saw me, it went back in. However, I expect it will come out soon. I'm monitoring the situation. Thax all.

Snakes don't back up, but they can climb over themselves. Just be careful, it might be a venomous snake, so don't go poking around, unless you can clearly see inside.

Snakes cannot back up, but they are very flexible and will be able to turn around and get out if/when it wants to. You might wanna call animal control though and have them get the snake and release into a safe wild area.

I have no idea why people say that snakes can't back up, because all of my snakes can. Rat snakes, eastern milksnakes, corn snakes, water snakes etc all can & do back up.
