I realized these were SPAM and have not opened any of the .pdf documents. Are they just ads, or are they more dangerous?

I think I saw a notice on this a while back. Some executable code that could be embedded in a .pdf

The latest version of Reader should probably have fixed that. Of course if it's spam I wouldn't open it anyway, I'd be very careful with any unsolicited attachements. As in I'd just avoid them like the plague they are.

probably not the most secure.
I wouldn't even bothering opening files or attachments that I'm not expecting.

spam keeps you from having ads that you dont want
