There is a strong history of discrimination against Chinese in America, now mostly forgotten. It included miscegenation laws, banning the right to vote, and also segragation. In 1927, the Supreme Court ruled in Gong Lum v Rice that the state of Mississippi had the right to ban Chinese from whites only schools.
