There are SO many people spouting off about how, "Bush Lied/People Died," that it puzzles me that maybe my fellow YAers are unable to think outside-the-box and consider perspectives different from what the media feed them every evening while they are sitting at their tables and eating their dinner.

Why is this?

Granted, it is explained to you that believing ANYTHING else makes you a shill for the administration to which MY response goes down the lines of, "Stick and stones..."

Come on, people. Do YA proud and QUIT toeing the media line. Give it a little thought and consideration and QUIT buying the pap that media like to feed you every night. Pap is a high-calorie high-cholesterol food too!

Most people get there information from very few sources.

Some people only consume mainstream media news.

Some people only consume conservative talk radio.

Some people only read liberal publications.

I say that to be well informed and have a good perspective on any issue, it is helpful to listen to as many different viewpoints as possible.

I'm not conservative, but I read conservative publications.

I'm not liberal, but I read liberal publications.

I also like to read foreign news publications so that I can get a perspective outside of the United States.

Too many people are just looking to reinforce what they already believe to be truth, instead of trying to really learn about an issue from all perspectives.

To consume news from one source limits one's knowledge on any given issue, and it dulls one's intellect.

You see, it is not only the mainstream media that is selling pap. It's all forms of media (talk radio, etc.) that is agenda driven. We just have to be able to wade through all of this so called news and try to find some truth or at least understating.

I bid you peace.

The evening news is much too plain today.
I like to spend about an hour every week at my public library. I browse through periodicals mostly about science, computers, sports, politics and other things of interest to me. I often see articles that are very detailed like Sceintific American explaining alternative fuels or Money magazine talking about good places to retire. Our discussions about immigration, stem cell research, trade issues, steroid usage, global warming, and world poverty should require more background than most people want to spend. Uniformed opinion has become hallowed ground.
I just believe that anything worth doing or any thought worth thinking should be done right.
