I had just a Radeon 9250 card, which is in one of the PCI slots, but i just got a 9600 card, which is AGP, from a friend, and i installed it into the AGP slot. But the problem is when i change the plug from the monitor from the old card to the newer one nothing shows up on the monitor. anyone know why this does this? What do I have to do?

maybe check your bios.
your bios might not be set to use the agp slot.

knowing what kind of motherboard, or what brand your computer is would help here, but

try tapping the del key when you turn the computer on.
or the f2 or f11 keys

bios should pop up. before the windows loading screen.

check around for something about agp beign disabled. enable it.
also make sure the mode and aperture is set to match the card too

yes. they're correct switch if from pci to agp too.

save changes and exit.

Good luck.
is the card new? Check to see if it has jumpers

oh wait I have a thumbs down. Just forget what I said since they think I'm wrong.

You may need to enable the AGP slot on the motherboard in your bios, so do this first.

Then you need to remove the old card out of the device manager list. Go to MyComputer, right click, chose Properties, then Hardware (tab) and click the Device Manager button. Open up the topic of "Display Adapters" and remove the old card.

Then shut down the computer and remove the old card off of the motherboard and put the new card in the AGP slot. Restart the computer. Have your disk that came with the new graphics card ready, you might be asked for it when windows starts up.

Good Luck

first, go into your BIOS (hit delete when the machine is booting up) and look for display type under of the settings (should be AGP, not PCI).

Plus, you shouldn't have the old card installed at the same time as the newer card.

You probably need to go into BIOS and select the display option to boot to AGP Display and not PCI.

you may need AGP drivers installed to do this.

Borrow a friends monitor, if it works then your monitor is probably dead, or the VGA cable came loose.
