i have been living with my fiance for ten years but i am still legally married, some peaple tell me by law im legally divorced is this true?

Yes , if you have been married and have not gone though the legal divorce process you still are married. Many states have simple "do it yourself" forms, if both parties are in agreement.
I would urge you to move ahead on this, if you have not divorced your "ex" may be incurring debt you could find your self responsible. There are other implications .... take the steps see it legally finished.

If you never appeared in divorce court or were served with any papers and you have no divorce papers in hand then Id say theres apretty good chance youre still married. Theres no known law that grants a person a legal divorce due to length of time living with someone else so you better to do some checking and start with the court of records where your spouse was last known living. It is possible your spouse got a missing person or 1 signature divorce without youre knowing it, but you need to know for sure before you get into legal trouble

No, that is not true . you are still legally married until you have the divorced papers then you are a divorced .I went though that already so trust me.

You are still married until you either file for divorce or he/she passes away then you would be widowed.
