Find the slope
2-1/2-4 = -1/2

Find the equation
y = mx+b
2 = -1/2(2) + b
b = 3

y = -1/2x + 3 or f(x) = -1/2x + 3

I think this is the solution

points are (2,2) and (4,1)

slope is (1 - 2) / (4 - 2) = -1/2

so Y = -1/2 X + b

so substituting point (4,1) ==> 1 = -1/2(4) + b ==> b = 3

so equation of line is Y = -1/2 X + 3

Unless I'm mistaken (entirely possible), linear model = line. Just find a line that goes through 2,2 and 4,1.

m = (2-1)/(2-4) = -1/2
y - 2 = (x - 2)(-1/2)
y - 2 = (-1/2)x +1
y = (-1/2)x + 1 + 2
y = (-1/2)x + 3

f(x) = (-1/2)x + 1
