When people say they love rock and say their favorite artist is Avril Lavigne? I never know if I should laugh, puke, or pity them.

Have they never heard of The Beatles or Pink Floyd?
I Pity them.
I should take their iPod smash it and replace it with mine.
If they want some good female vocalists they should try:
Janis Joplin
Jefferson Airplane
Aretha Franklin

Not quite laugh... it makes me think of the lack of culture the world has if they claim to like rock and especially Avril. She's rather a pop "singer" trying to look oh-so-punk. I never liked her very much, but I had to admit her older songs were better than girlfriend. And she is such a girly-girl now, no way she's singing rock. Same goes to MCR and P!ATD. Some people just hear an electric guitar in a song and then they go like "OMG this is soo rock! I love rock! I'm a rocker and Avril is my idol!" sheesh.

I've got to agree with you. The words "Avril Lavigne" and "Rock" shouldn't even be used in the same sentence.

lol i totally agree!! Avril's "music" is horrible, she is soooooooo far from rock, and has no talent. Do all three, laugh, puke, and pity them!
i hate her voice and her songs are supid

Yes. It also makes me laugh when they think Fall Out Boy is hardcore, and when they say Linkin Park is heavy. Yes, they have some good power chords, and they aren't that bad (only decent nu metal band), but they aren't heavy.
