I am a sixteen year old with divorced parents currently living in CT with my dad. I want to move to Florida with my mom and my stepdad, but one thing I can't get off my mind is the heat. Will I get used to it because I love doing outdoor activites and I heat up quick. I would be moving to the gulf coast near tampa, could anyone tell me what its like. Also, is there any other aspect about Florida I should be aware about?

Compromise ... spend the school year with your mom and the summer and Christmas with your dad.

I have lived in NE FL for 13 years and love it-however, the cost of living is ever increasing, utilities and real estate taxes are high. If you do not have a special skill wages are low and many young people have to work two jobs to make ends meet. You might want to consider a roomie to help with costs. The Tampa area is very urbanized with heavy traffic, crowded beaches- but there is alot to do. Jacksonville has a lower cost of living. Look on some websites for this kind of data before you decide.

You're young, so I KNOW you can cope with this 90 degree heat. We do get a lot of rain...so that may make it cool for the time being....Outdoor activities, great for florida as we have lots of sports and then nature stuff..........Tampa does have a high risk of getting hit by a hurricane or something lesser because, well it's south and it is at the gulf.....But nice....Besides, any luck with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?

Main concern should be your parents- who do you want to live -with are your parents letting you choose-
Best advice weigh the pro and cons of the weather and see what you want the most and if you are up for the heat

florida is great. I lived there for 5 years and just moved to GA and I want to go back to FL soooooo bad!! I loved it! There are so many diff. cultures and things to do. You should be aware that there are many Hispanics (not that that is a bad thing) so you will need to learn to speak Spanish.
